Your Hormones Aren’t Broken… You’re Missing the Downstream Order

Hello,

You’ve probably been told to “fix your hormones”... all the peri and menopausal women are doing this… but no one tells you where to start.

That’s exactly why I created this hormone podcast series... because most women are working backwards, and it’s keeping them stuck.

Here’s what we’ve covered so far:

Episode 5: The Hormone Hierarchy – Why Cortisol Runs the Show. Listen Here.
We started at the top. Stress hormones (cortisol) dictate everything... your metabolism, thyroid function, and even fat loss. If this is off, nothing else works well.

Episode 6: Insulin & Blood Sugar - The Metabolic Gatekeeper Listen Here.
This is the hormone most women ignore. Blood sugar swings drive cravings, energy crashes, stubborn weight, and can silently disrupt your thyroid.

Episode 7: Thyroid & Metabolism - Why Fat Loss Feels Impossible. Listen Here.
Yes, your thyroid matters, but it’s rarely the only problem. If cortisol and blood sugar aren’t balanced, your thyroid will struggle no matter what you do.

Coming Next:
Episode 8: Estrogen, Progesterone & Testosterone - Why Everything Changes After 35
Episode 9: (stay tuned 👀)

Because once the foundation hormones are off… midlife hits harder, symptoms worsen, and things feel like they’re spiraling.

Let’s talk about a hormone almost no one explains correctly: Progesterone

Progesterone is often referred to as your “calming hormone” because of the way it supports your nervous system.

When levels are optimal, you tend to feel more grounded, sleep more deeply, and handle stress with more ease.

But progesterone doesn’t exist in isolation, it’s deeply connected to your stress response.

When your body perceives ongoing stress, it prioritizes producing cortisol (your survival hormone).

To do that, it pulls from the same building blocks needed to produce progesterone. And obviously, over time this shift can leave progesterone levels lower than optimal.

This is when many women start noticing subtle but frustrating changes such as feeling more anxious, wired but tired, struggling with sleep, or experiencing worsening PMS symptoms.

And here’s the key: 🔑 if stress isn’t addressed first, progesterone support often doesn’t fully resolve the issue. The body will continue choosing survival over balance.

This is exactly why we started this Hormone Series with cortisol because everything downstream, including progesterone, depends on it.

If you haven’t started the series yet, go back and begin with Episode 5, it will completely change how you understand your body.

Hey Reader, Have you ever had your reverse T3 checked? My guess is… probably not. And if you’ve ever asked your doctor about it, there’s a good chance you were told it “doesn’t matter.” WRONG!! It does matter, and it can be a huge missing piece if you’re still struggling with symptoms. Here’s why 👇 When we look at your thyroid labs, it’s not just about how much thyroid hormone you have… it’s about what your body is actually doing with it. Your thyroid primarily produces T4, which is your...

Reader, Let me share a bit about my story, and what it’s really like to live without a thyroid… or with one that isn’t being treated the right way. 🫩 Back in 2007, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer that had already spread to my lymph nodes. A year later… it came back! After multiple surgeries and three rounds of radioactive iodine that didn’t work, I ultimately had my entire thyroid removed... along with many lymph nodes. And I truly believed that would be the turning point.Remove the...
